È il 1989 quando all' età di 16 anni Federico Gandin compra i primi 2 giradischi... da quel momento la sua passione per la musica elettronica non lo abbandonerà più.
L'attività di dj si sviluppa nel tempo passando dall'acid-house fino al primo disco techno acquistato nel 1992 (Waveform Transmission vol.1) che sarà l'inizio di tutto.
Partecipa a vari rave e nel 1994 apre un dj shop "Deep zone" con lo scopo di importare dischi direttamente dall' estero per sviluppare un mercato locale totalmente isolato dal resto d' Europa.
Nella sua attività di dj si contano oltre ai vari club torinesi , partecipazioni a importanti eventi techno in Francia .
Nel 1997 crea insieme a Maurizio Caridi un progetto dedicato a promuovere la musica techno in Torino dal nome "Aktivitat" ( in tributo ai Kraftwerk ) , che l' anno successivo si chiamerà definitivamente "I,Robot" e verrà esportato anche su un'isola in Turchia per il meeting EASA.
Nel 1998 si trasferisce a Londra per 1 anno e mezzo dove partecipa ad un corso di ingegneria del suono.
Oltre alla passione per la musica elettronica Federico è collezionista di dischi di jazz, rock 60's , bossanova e attualmente lavora come responsabile del reparto musicale della Fnac di Torino .
Il suono di Detroit è la chiave di lettura dei suoi set dove la tecnica di mixaggio e la struttura sequenziale dei brani sono il mezzo per proporre la techno non solo come un genere fine a se stesso ma come una progetto di arte contemporanea che si sviluppa in molteplici forme e varianti.
It's 1989 when at 16 years of age Federico Gandin buys his first two turntables...since then his passion for electronic music won't ever desert him.
His dj activity expands in time going from acid-house to his first techno record purchased in 1992 ("Waveform Transmission Vol.1) which will be the start of it all.
He takes part in various raves and in 1994 he opens a dj shop "Deep zone" with the aim of importing records and develop a local market totally isolated from the rest of Europe.
Other than working in Turinese clubs, his djing took him to important techno events in France.
In 1997, together with Maurizio Caridi, he starts a project dedicated to the promotion of techno music in Turin called "Aktivitat" (as a tribute to Kraftwerk), and that will be once for all renamed "I,Robot" on the following year, to be exported later on a Turkish island for meeting EASA .
In 1998 he moves to London for a year and a half and he attends a corse in sound engineering.
Beyond his passion for electronic music, Federico is also a collector of jazz, 60's rock and bossanova records and currently works as manager in the music department at Turin's Fnac store.
The sound of Detroit is the key for his sets where the mixing tecniques and the sequence of tracks are the way to intend techno not only as a musical genre but also as a contemporary art project expressing itself in many forms and variations.
